Black Bear Facts
Black bears are the only bear species found in Michigan.  Adult male bears can weigh up to 500 lbs and can live to be over 30 years old.  Black bears are most often found in large, heavily forested areas.  The Upper Peninsula has prime areas of secluded large forested areas that are perfect habitats for the black bear.

Keep in mind that the first hunters to try their luck each fall have the first crack at the biggest bucks.  Prime time for big Upper Michigan Whitetail Deer Hunting activity is during the rut from late October through November.

Whitetail Deer Facts
Whitetail Deer males weigh from 130 to 220 pounds, but some have been known to be in excess of 350 pounds.Females during the rut enter "estrus".  Whitetail deer antlers start growing in the late spring.
